Tips to make your portrait session great!

Step One-Before Your Session

Clothing: Choosing your portrait wardrobe is very important. Stick to what you are comfortable with. Don't go for a whole new wardrobe change at once.

Girls, although its fine if you bring one, try to avoid short skirts or skirts in general, as they limit posing options. Your make-up should remain natural looking and make sure you bring it along for any touchups. Bringing extra clothes is okay too, and props (ex. sports stuff, friend, prom dress, horse or other pet, musical instrument, etc...). This helps make your portrait session about you.

Boys, I promise to keep this simple and painless for you! Most senior boys are only doing this for someone. I encourage you to bring any props that would make the photos about you (ex. pet, vehicle, dress suit, guitar, sports stuff, etc...).

Glasses: If you wear glasses, please try to obtain an empty duplicate frame from your optometrist. Removing glare only adds cost to your order, see retouching.

Retouching: Basic retouching can be done for any pose. This includes acne, glass glare, and much more. Prices vary depending on what you need done. Additional costs may be added for the removal of braces or anything unnatural. Many minor acne blemishes won't even be noticed on a photo if covered properly with makeup, this goes for the boys too!

Step Two-At Your Session

Payment: Your session fee is due on the day you come for your session. Checks can be made out to Studio C if filled out ahead of time, just be sure to add the 5.5% sales tax.

Weather: If we experience rain or high winds on your portrait day, we just need to reschedule. Also if you are ill, something comes up, you get a bad blemish, or if you are just having a bad hair day-reschedule! You won't feel good about your photos if you know your hair or skin is not cooperating. I know this from experience!

The Session: Relax and have fun with it. Its a memory of your senior year! Bring a parent or friend with you for support if you'd like or come alone.

Step Three-After Your Session

Proofs: Your proof booklet will be ready approximately two-three weeks after your session.

Payment: A $85 deposit is required to take the proof booklet home and this goes towards your final order. With your session, the proof booklet is included if you spend a certain amount on portraits (see session choices above).

Ordering: No packages. You get what you need. There will be an order form in with your booklet. The proof number is below each photo. You can place your order whenever you would like. If you need things back by Christmas the deadline is November 1st. If you wait to the end of the year, closer to graduation, the deadline is April 1st. And as always, if you forgot to order something or run out of wallets, you can always order more.

Other Information
If you have a horse or other large animal you would like your photo with, I will travel to where the animal is for that photo (see travel info below).

I like to keep things as simple as possible, so you won't find any unnecessary charges (ex. including a pet, friend or props in your pictures). Traveling for outdoor pictures is not a problem, however, I do charge for mileage.

I accept only cash or checks (made out to Studio C), sorry no credit cards! Also, any returned check will be subject to a $30 NSF fee.

Remember, the studio is in the barn! I know that sounds weird, but you'll see when you get there. Please park in the gravel parking area.
